Erin is passionate about safe alignment and sustainable movement. Learn more about her and her philosophy on yoga:
The more yoga I teach the more I realize I have a very strong teaching personality. I obsess over alignment and detail when teaching classes and I'm not ashamed to make it known. As a student I love to learn things. I get giddy with excitement when I gain deeper knowledge even on the most basic postures. My teaching resonates with students who feel the same in their own practice. Although my primary focus is on form and alignment, I truly believe the time you spend on your yoga mat can help you become your best self . Your ability or inability to successfully do a posture means nothing. Your ability to deal with daily stressors, face challenging situations, and live your life with ease and gratitude means everything.
I found yoga while studying Dance and Sociology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I didn't initially care for the first few yoga classes I took, but something kept drawing me back to the yoga room. I would regularly returned to my mat and found it quickly became my sanctuary. Yoga has helped me combat depression, weight gain, and overall dissatisfaction with life. With everything yoga gave me I knew it was important to share those gifts with others. In 2009 I completed my first 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and have been grateful to teach ever since.
I now teach many public yoga classes throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN area. My focus is Vinyasa Yoga with a tremendous amount of detail on alignment and sustainable movement. I love to teach and I want my students to learn something in every class they take.
Throughout the years I have been honored to practice with Matthew Sanford, Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea, Doug Swenson, Dharma Mittra, and many other truly amazing yoga teachers. I am very inspired and influenced by my teacher, Jason Crandell, with whom I completed my 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in San Francisco, CA.
When I'm not in the yoga studio or on my mat I'm usually at the gym running and lifting heavy things or hanging with my husband, dog, and two cats. I feel privileged to call Minnesota home and I'm thankful for the ability to enjoy Mother Nature at her finest in my home state.
